Prof. Daniel Reiserתאריך פרסום: תשפ"ה | | 56 minutes
Theological protest against God, often exemplified by figures such as Abraham, Moses, and Job, has deep roots in the Jewish tradition. This lecture explores a unique Hasidic interpretation in which Sarah's death is seen as a 'protest within faith.' Rabbi Kalonymus Kalman Shapira posits that Sarah took her life to demonstrate her unbearable suffering after Isaac's near sacrifice. In his exegesis, R. Shapira adopts Sarah's mode of protest as emblematic of his own experience as a spiritual leader- a role he maintained until his tragic death in the Warsaw ghetto.'
